Actually a whole lot bigger! I finished another piece from my City Lines series. This one is called Sunset and it is composed completely out of recycled plastic shopping bags. The only new material that I used was thread. I have mentioned before how much I've been enjoying layering and collaging translucent plastics.. and I got to do that on a rather large scale in this piece. It measures 37" high and 55.5" across. All the stitching is done by machine only, not a single hand stitched detail this time. It appeals to my "pedal to the metal" side and gratifies the speed demon in me...

I used my own photographs of NYC to make a composition for this piece. All the buildings do exist, just not together in this location, and perhaps someone will recognize the bridge too. To me NYC is such a jumble of images, a layer upon layer of glass, concrete and iron, a city whose colors change within minutes depending on the clouds, the time of the day or just which shadow you step into. Hopefully I was able to express that here..
